| Ohio Taxpayers Association Recommends Video Gaming |
4/4/2001 The Association Cautions Against Rainy Day Fund Raid The Ohio Taxpayers Association (OTA), the statewide pro-taxpayer organization, cautioned Governor Taft against raiding Ohio's "Rainy Day" state savings account to help cover shortfalls in state revenue. Said Scott A. Pullins, OTA Executive Director, "If more money is needed to plug Ohio's budget, then it makes much more sense to place Video Gaming Machines at racetracks?.? "Ohioans are already playing Video Gaming Machines, they're just doing so across the border in West Virginia and Indiana," Pullins continued. "If the choice is between raising taxes and letting Ohioans play Video Poker within our borders, then these machines are a good bet for taxpayers." OTA praised Governor Taft for his quick action to cut state spending and his continued pledge against raising taxes. "It looks like Governor Taft gets it, raising taxes would only worsen Ohio's economy," said Pullins. |
