OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN TO PERFORM AT LAS VEGAS HILTON AUG.24-25

LAS VEGAS - Olivia Newton-John, Grammy Award winner and star of the most popular movie musical of all time, will perform in the Las Vegas Hilton Theater Aug. 24-25 at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $45, $55 and $65, and may be purchase by calling (702) 732-5755 or (800) 222-5361.

In 1965, Olivia recorded the single "Till You Say You'll Be Mine/For Ever." She was vacationing in England as part of a first place prize she won in an Australian talent contest. It was the start of one of the most successful pop careers ever.

Olivia soon joined up with fellow Aussie Pat Carroll to form Pat and Olivia and enjoyed moderate success touring local clubs and bars. After a brief stint with Toomorrow (sic) (England's answer to the Monkees) she met up with Cliff Richard and the Shadows, and released three albums in three years.

Olivia's first hit single was a cover of Bob Dylan's "If Not For You." She followed it up with "Let Me Be There" which charted in the top 10. In 1974, Olivia left England for the U.S. and received a rapturous welcome for her next album Have You Ever Been Mellow. The title song topped the charts and the follow up single "Please, Mr. Please," reached number three on the top 40. It was the start of a roll that continued throughout the 70s with a string of gold albums. She quickly became a household name and was recognized the world-over.

Olivia's popularity carried over to Europe and Japan, where she became a touring sensation. Her 1976 Tokyo performance was released as a live album titled Love Performance. She won multiple Grammys for her work and settled in Malibu, near Los Angeles.

Olivia auditioned for and landed a role in Grease, opposite John Travolta. The movie adaptation of the musical was released in 1978 and launched Olivia's career even higher into the stratosphere. Her next movie, Xanadu, was panned by the critics but the soundtrack was a roaring success.

In 1981, Olivia released the album Physical. The million-selling title track took up residence at the top of the charts for four weeks and became the top-selling record of the year. Throughout the 80s, Olivia enjoyed success on screen and on the road. She started the fashion chain "Koala Blue" and was married in 1984. She gave birth to her daughter Chloe in 1986 and poured herself into her retail chain and motherhood.

In July of 1992, Olivia was diagnosed with breast cancer. She battled the disease and in February of 1993, was declared cancer-free and traveled back to Australia to recuperate. She chose to talk about her experiences so women in similar positions could see that survival was possible, and early detection was important.

Olivia signed with MCA-Nashville in 1997 and recorded a single with the Raybon Brothers. In 1998, she released Back With A Heart, a mixture of pop and country. She has maintained a healthy touring schedule over the last few years, performing to sold-out venues around the world.
