MUSIC ICON CHAKA KHAN, COMEDIAN GORDIE BROWN AT CAESARS PALACE JULY 7-9

LAS VEGAS - Music icon Chaka Khan, one of the premiere vocalists of the 20th century, makes a rare Las Vegas appearance when she headlines the Circus Maximus Showroom at Caesars Palace July 7-9, along with comedian Gordie Brown.

Since her arrival on the music scene in the early 1970s, Khan has set standards for every new trend in pop, R&B, rock, disco, fusion, jazz, rap, hip hop and even classical. Her perfected style, stage presence and sense of intimacy has endeared her to fans around the world.

The Grammy Award winner has been lauded by VIBE Magazine for her "Jazz life force, intensely weaving Pop, Funk and R&B - and the timeless body of musical works that she has contributed to the recording industry." Khan, an avid film fan, also has recorded more than 15 soundtracks. Her duets with Ray Charles on "I'll Be Good To You" and Stevie Winwood on "Higher Love," (a No. 1pop hit) were both Grammy winners.

Khan has received an ASCAP POP Award for her classic "Sweet Thing"; the Lena Horne, Lady of Soul Career Achievement Awards, and Londonis Capitol Radio Listener's Poll Award for "London's Best Actress" in 1995. In 1996, The State of Illinois and the City of Chicago declared Oct. 19 as "Chaka Khan Day." Her Chaka Khan Foundation assists a wide variety of good causes, and her entertainment company, Earth Song Entertainment, derived from "Earth Song," one of Chaka's compositions on her renowned "Ask Rufus" album, allows artists to own their creativity, becoming joint partners with Khan in their projects and owning their own master tapes.

Canadian-born comedian Gordie Brown, who stars in the FOX TV series "Twice in a Lifetime," was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. He worked as a political cartoonist and caught the entertainment bug after his coworkers entered him in an industry talent competition, where he won first place. He moved to Las Vegas with the hope of working with his fellow Canadians Paul Anka and Rich Little. Within two years, he had accomplished his goal and went on to open for Jay Leno, Louis Anderson, Barry Manilow and Jerry Seinfeld. He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career in standup comedy and debuted on "Evening at the Improv," co-hosted NBC's "Friday Night Videos," and landed the starring role of Mr. Jones on FOX TV's "Twice in a Lifetime, " a weekly hour-long drama series.
